Trott is a project that I started with two colleagues through U of M’s OptiMize program. The goal of our service is to connect travelers to other people who are planning on going on similar trips. Think of it as a Tinder for traveling.
OptiMize is an organization at U of M that aims to help students take their ideas and turn them into reality. They provide workshops and events, access to mentors, and up to $20,000 in funding for student projects through their OptiMize Challenge.
As students of a university that embraces differences in culture and encourages global travel, my teammates and I saw a need for an application that would bring travelers together and make the existing abroad experience more inviting and more social. Our target travelers are of college age, but the types of travel that people can use the application for are unlimited. Whether it’s traveling from Michigan into Canada for a hiking trip, or flying from the U.S. to Italy for a backpacking trip, Trott can connect travelers looking for a similar experience.
We are still in the preliminary stages of development, but so far what I have done for our team is a competitive analysis, as well as wireframing and prototyping our website.
